Vossloh receives order from China for the supply of high-speed grinding trains
28.01.2022
Earlier this year, Vossloh was awarded a contract to supply three high-speed grinding trains (HSG-city) for use on the subway network in the southern Chinese metropolis of Shenzhen.

This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to Vossloh.
Due to the connection to an electric traction unit, the newly developed grinding train is powered by the conductive rail and can therefore be operated without harmful emissions. In China’s fast-growing metropolitan areas, the expansion of local public transport is proceeding at a rapid pace.
Rail networks are expanding and traffic density is increasing. Currently, the metropolitan area of Shenzhen is home to more than 17 million people, and the subway registers up to 7 million passengers daily. The local rail network covers over 400 kilometers and will be expanded to over 1,000 kilometers in the long term.
“China has been and remains a particularly important market for us, including in the service sector,” says Ian Furnivall, member of the Vossloh executive board.
Vossloh has signed another contract for the supply of rail fasteners
“Including the three HSG-cities for Shenzhen Metro, we have received orders for a total of eight HSG-cities from China in the last 12 months.” High Speed Grinding (HSG) technology is used for preventive maintenance of the railway network.
Vossloh maintenance vehicles can be used at speeds of 80 km/h on mainlines or up to 60 km/h on public transport lines. This means that maintenance work can be carried out during ongoing operations without the need for schedule adjustments or even line closures.
Regular use of HSG machines effectively prevents rail defects, greatly increases the service life of rails, and reduces rail noise. “In line with our guiding principle of ‘Green Mobility’, the development of the HSG Green City is another consistent step in our journey,” said Oliver Schuster, CEO of Vossloh AG.
