Mario Péloquin’s career across rail and transport roles

Péloquin began his career in the 1980s as a train dispatcher for Canadian National before moving to Transport Canada. He later worked on Ottawa’s light rail system, worked at Siemens, and in 2020 briefly served as chief operating officer for New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

In a statement, Péloquin said it had been a privilege to serve as President and CEO of VIA Rail Canada and to work alongside colleagues across the country. He cited progress on modernizing key systems and advancing fleet renewal projects intended to support passenger rail in Canada for decades.
