Union Pacific train derailment near Colfax: track reopens

The Union Pacific train derailment near Colfax early Saturday temporarily closed the track east of the city, as reported by Railway Supply. CAL FIRE’s Nevada Yuba Placer Unit (NEU) said no hazards were involved.

What happened near Colfax?
As KCRA reported, approximately 13 train cars derailed at about 3:20 a.m. on Dec. 13 near State Highway 174 and Narrow Gauge.
Track status and investigation
A Union Pacific spokesperson said the track impacted by the derailment had been inspected and repaired as of Monday morning. The track reopened to train traffic on Sunday, as reported by MyNews4.
The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
