This strategic partnership aims to restore and develop Eurasian intermodal routes and strengthen Ukraine’s transit potential, which is especially relevant amidst war and economic instability.
Despite current challenges, Ukraine remains a key link in diversifying routes between Asia and the EU.
Special attention is given to developing the China-Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Ukraine-Poland corridor.
Meeting participants, including the leadership of “Ukrzaliznytsia” and Polish railways, discussed plans to improve border crossings and expand cooperation to ensure seamless and efficient cargo flow.
European integration of Ukrainian railways opens new opportunities for the country’s economy and strengthens its position in the European market.
The joint efforts of Ukraine and Poland to develop rail crossings and infrastructure with 1435 mm gauge contribute to the creation of new transit corridors, such as the Middle Corridor (TMTM), linking Asia and Europe.
Expanding the logistics partnership between the countries will help revive Ukraine’s transit potential and strengthen both countries’ positions in developing intermodal transportation, creating container terminals, and launching new routes.
Ukrzaliznytsia’s Chairman, Yevhen Lyashchenko, emphasized that cooperation with Poland will strengthen transport links and expand trade opportunities for the Ukrainian and Polish economies.
Alan Beroud, CEO of PKP Group, highlighted Poland’s importance as a strategic transit hub for rail routes between Asia and Europe.
At the Polish-Ukrainian border crossings, increased control and faster border processes are planned, enhancing convenience and speed of transport.
