TransPod Advances Alberta’s 1,000-km/h High-Speed Rail Vision
07.10.2025
TransPod unveiled a new development stage of its Alberta high-speed rail mission by teaming up with Canadian leading steel producers to construct the 1,000-km/h FluxJet link between Edmonton and Calgary.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

TransPod Charters Industrial Collaborations in Canada
TransPod collaborated with Algoma Steel and Supreme Steel for building the foundation of the future route between Alberta’s major cities covering 175 miles. The alliance will bring together national expertise, generate employment, and fortify Canadian manufacturing base.

Algoma Steel will supply a minimum of two million tonnes of premier-grade steel, and Supreme Steel will assemble the guideways for ultra-fast FluxJet vehicles. Since both firms are Canadian corporations, the partnership lessens their reliability on U.S. market.extensions and tariffs, which are notoriously volatile.
TransPod CEO Sebastien Gendron added that by doing so, it’s supporting Alberta’s position in advanced manufacturing. “By collaborating with Algoma and Supreme Steel, we’re strengthening our supply chains and opening jobs for highly skilled workers,” he added.
TransPod Gains Steam for Alberta’s Transport Future
With engineering work done, it’s now waiting for a new transport master plan by Alberta’s Government. It’s going to state how it’s going to buy land for the route and pick up large-scale construction shortly.
The study of feasibility projects an estimated job count of 140,000 and a GDP of Alberta by $19.2 billion during construction. The journey between Edmonton and Calgary should flag on a timeline of just 45 minutes, changing regional productivity and connectivity.
Even though it is inspired by Constructor of Earth’s Hyperloop, Flaix’s FluxJet is based on a different model of propulsion. It integrates magnetic levitation, aerodynamics, and green energy systems, hence efficiency and sustainability. “We’re not creating Elon Musk’s technology,” Gendron added. “We’re creating the next step of transport evolution.”
TransPod, based in Toronto, has been constrained by Alberta’s Railway Act limitations on accessing land. However, it is confident policy shifts and sound industrial collaborations shall prevail to counter those impediments. With resumption of building, Alberta shall become a world leader in innovative transport speed.
