Level Crossing Removals Improve the Inner Armadale Line
As part of the METRONET project, six vehicle level crossings have been removed by elevating rail lines above major intersections like Mint, Archer, and William streets.
Work continues on new elevated stations at Carlisle, Oats Street, Queens Park, Cannington, and Beckenham. Welshpool Station has closed permanently as part of the redevelopment.
Inner Armadale Line Closure to Continue South of Victoria Park
The Armadale/Thornlie Line remains closed between Victoria Park and Armadale/Thornlie stations. Services in this section are suspended until mid-2025 to complete the infrastructure works.
Passengers should check the METRONET website for updated station access details and service availability during the phased reopening of the Inner Armadale Line.
This project receives joint funding from the Western Australian and Commonwealth governments to modernize the network and improve safety for drivers and rail passengers.
When completed, these upgrades will boost capacity and reduce congestion across Perth’s southern rail corridor while improving travel reliability for daily commuters.
