Train Acres Miniature Railway Inspires the Community

Seventeen years ago, Ernie Beskowiney began building his miniature railway from scratch near Benalto, Alberta. Today, it spans more than 12,000 feet of track and features a 30-minute ride around the property.

Each locomotive, including replicas of Canadian Pacific Railway and Canadian National Railway 6060, showcases his dedication. And because he used steel, aluminum, and 3D-printed parts, every detail reflects craftsmanship and innovation.

His YouTube video of the steam engine alone has drawn more than 38 million views, proving how his work resonates far beyond his local community.

Train Acres Miniature Railway Supports Children’s Care

Beskowiney created the Train Acres Miniature Railway as a way to give back. His grandson, once at risk before birth, survived and thrived because of exceptional care at the Ottawa Children’s Hospital.

That experience motivated him to support the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. And because of that, the upcoming event will directly benefit these organizations.

Tickets cost $10 per ride and are available at trainacres.com. Visitors will enjoy food trucks and on-site facilities during the event. This marks only the second time the railway has opened its doors to the public since its 2024 debut.

By combining engineering expertise with a mission to help children, Beskowiney has turned a personal vision into a meaningful community project.
