The longest Hyperloop prototype in Europe was unveiled in the Netherlands
31.03.2024
This week in the Netherlands, the longest section prototype of the Hyperloop transportation technology in Europe was unveiled, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The test track is located near the city of Veenendaal on land previously used for a railway.
The tube of the project measures 420 meters in length, consisting of 34 connected sections with a diameter of approximately 2.5 meters.
This center in the Netherlands will be the world’s only prototype in the shape of a Y with branches from the main “path” to test capsule maneuvers at high speeds.
Center director Sasha Lamme explains that such branches will be necessary to create a real pan-European network in the future.
The scientist believes that by 2050, Europe will already have a large transportation network based on Hyperloop technology, and it will be possible to travel from Amsterdam to Barcelona in two hours, as fast as by plane.
Dutch company Hardt Hyperloop will begin initial tests in the tube with passenger capsules in the coming weeks, but without people.
According to the center director, full-scale testing readiness is expected around 2030, with a segment approximately 5 kilometers long, for example, from the airport to a major city.
As previously reported, Hyperloop One is shutting down and selling its assets.
