On Saturday, March 18, 2023, eight VBZ Tram2000 trams began their long journey to a new life in Vinnitsa. The special cargo was sent in the morning along route 63069 from Niederglatt to the marshalling yard in Limmattal, from where the route will continue towards Ukraine in the coming days. In total, the city will receive 35 two-section trams from Zurich, Switzerland, Railway Supply reports, citing the CFTS.

This winter, the wagons were sent to Dielsdorf, where they were prepared for shipment to Ukraine. Tram 2000s were made in the late 1980s in Switzerland. The tram without the low-floor insert is 21.4 meters long, 2.2 meters wide, with 50 seats and 54 standing places. It is assumed that the trams can be operated for another 12-15 years.
Please note that the project is in its second phase. During the first phase in 2006-2011, Vinnitsa received 116 trams.
