The Armadale Line will reopen on October 13, bringing major upgrades that include new stations, improved connections, and better accessibility across Perth’s growing south-east suburbs. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The Armadale Line and Key METRONET Benefits

The Armadale Line and Fare Savings for Commuters

Passengers will benefit from the current two-zone fare cap, with a one-zone fare of $2.80 starting January 2026 for SmartRider users. These measures make public transport more affordable and encourage more people to travel by train.

Construction required eight kilometers of dual-track rail, 22,000 sleepers, and 40,000 tonnes of crushed rock. The project employed over 4,200 workers, delivering economic growth alongside infrastructure improvements.

The Australind Train, using the Armadale route, will return in early 2026 after testing of new railcars at Bellevue. The reopening also coincides with a community celebration on October 12, featuring activities and the unveiling of Long Park.

Stretching seven kilometers, Long Park offers playgrounds, skate areas, sports courts, and fitness zones. These features transform local neighborhoods, making them more connected and vibrant for families and commuters alike.
