The tender for the construction of the high-speed rail in Portugal

The Portuguese government has announced a tender for the construction of the first section of the high-speed rail line between Porto and Campanhã – Oeiras, as part of the Porto–Lisbon High-Speed Rail project, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The project aims for a speed of 300 km/h, reducing travel time between Lisbon and Porto from 2 hours 49 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes.
Knorr-Bremse has supplied Hitachi Rail with a batch of couplers for passenger trains.
The first phase is estimated at 1.95 billion euros, with a total cost for the first and second sections at 3.7 billion euros.
The completion of the initial phase is planned for 2028, involving the modernization of existing stations and a new station in Vila Nova de Gaia.
Subsequent phases, covering Lisbon, are estimated at 5.5 billion euros, with 729 million euros in funding from the European Union.
The extension to the Spanish line Vigo–La Coruña is influenced by the choice of Iberian gauge.
