OmniTRAX Rail Network and Broe Real Estate Group overview

The Broe Group was founded in 1972 by industrialist Pat Broe and launched OmniTRAX in 1986. It said OmniTRAX has been built into the fastest growing privately held rail and infrastructure operation in North America, and that the OmniTRAX Rail Network now comprises 31 rail operations serving ports, industrial parks and industry leaders across the United States.

OmniTRAX describes its work as spanning transportation and supply chain management services for railroad and port companies, along with intermodal and industrial switching operations for railroads, ports and a wide range of industrial customers. Through its affiliation with The Broe Group and the group’s portfolio of managed companies—as Railway Supply notes in related coverage—OmniTRAX also offers specialized industrial development and real estate solutions, both on and off the rail network it manages (company overview on the OmniTRAX website).

Broe Real Estate Group, another affiliate, acquires, develops and manages commercial real estate assets. The company said affiliated businesses own and manage office and industrial properties, medical office buildings and multi-family communities nationwide, including premier assets in many desirable markets. The Broe Group added that it has a 50-year history of value-add real estate investing in Northern Colorado and across the United States, using focused business plans intended to increase cash flow and create stable income streams.

Middleton’s BNSF Railway background and education

Middleton brings two decades of legal counsel and executive experience, including nearly fifteen years of Class I rail work with BNSF Railway. Over that time, she took on progressively broader responsibilities and ultimately served as Associate General Counsel, according to the announcement.

Earlier in her career, she clerked for U.S. District Judge John D. Rainey before moving into a longer span of legal practice and counsel. An Ohio native, Middleton earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Howard Payne University and received her law degree from SMU Dedman School of Law.

The Broe Group said its broader portfolio includes holdings in real estate, rail, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, water, healthcare and technology across 37 North American states and provinces. It also highlighted operational experience from owning and operating multi-billion-dollar businesses and global economic insights developed through work with Fortune 500 clientele as strategic differentiators.
