If Talgo wins the current tender, the Spanish manufacturer plans to develop a low-floor locomotive-hauled train, Intercity BG, based on the Talgo 230 platform, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Talgo has announced the technical specifications of the push-pull train

The train will be capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 km/h and offer 390 seated places, as well as being adapted for 760 mm high platforms.

It is planned that one end of the train will have a locomotive, while the other will have a control cab car.

The tender for the supply of 20 push-pull trains was announced in Bulgaria last year and relaunched earlier this year.

Direct negotiations are currently underway with two tender participants – Talgo and CRRC – to improve the proposals.

Additionally, the Chinese manufacturer CRRC may be excluded from the procurement process if evidence of receiving government subsidies, which allowed them to offer a price in the tender that is 2 times lower, is found.
