Systra contract for Patna Metro: Line 1 tunnels span 10.4 km

The latest package of detailed design studies for Patna Metro covers two sections with a combined length of 10.4 km. Together, they make up the underground sections of Line 1 (Red Line) between Mithapur Ramp and Rukanpura Ramp, delivered through twin tunnels and six underground stations, as reported by Railway Pro.

Systra’s team in India is working for Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) on behalf of Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited. Under the contract, it will design all six underground stations, along with access and exit structures and other associated structures, including ancillary buildings.

Patna Metro Red Line underground section and wider corridor plan

The Patna Metro Red Line underground section sits within an east–west corridor planned to extend 18.5 km and include 15 stations. The route is set to connect Danapur Cantonment to Khemni Chak, running via Patna Central Station.

Patna, located in northeastern India, has a population of approximately 2.5 million. The metro system under development is intended to provide high-capacity mobility that is also sustainable. In the project outline, the Patna Metro is described as crossing the city center, linking densely populated neighborhoods, and providing seamless connections to railway stations and the interstate bus terminal (ISBT).

Patna Metro Blue Line first phase inaugurated October 2025

The Patna Metro Blue Line first phase inaugurated October 2025 brought 3.6 km into service with three stations between the Patliputra bus terminal and Bhoothnath station. This opening marked the first operational section of the Blue Line, a north–south corridor shown on My Patna Metro.

When complete, the Blue Line is planned to run 16.2 km with 12 stations, from the Patliputra bus terminal at the southern end to Patna Central Station at the northern end. The project description indicates a 24-minute journey time for this route.

Patna metro network two lines 32 km 25 stations

Across the full plan, the Patna metro network two lines 32 km 25 stations combines the Blue Line and the Red Line. Together, the two corridors are planned to total 32 km with 25 stations, including two transfer stations.
