The North Shore line between Central and Hornsby experienced immediate interruptions as emergency services responded to the situation at Artarmon. Trains on the Western and Northern lines were also held up during peak hours.

Although services have now resumed, authorities advised passengers to plan for extended travel times and consider alternative routes. Commuters were encouraged to use Metro and bus services where available.

Transport for NSW urged riders to stay informed and flexible. “Passengers should allow extra time, listen to announcements, and check display boards, as train stopping patterns might change,” a spokesperson stated.

Ongoing Sydney train delays stress public transport

This marks the second major disruption in just over a week. Last Monday, a power connector on a train’s roof became entangled with overhead wires near Lidcombe, damaging six tracks and suspending services for several days.

Maintenance crews worked intensively to restore operations. However, lingering impacts continued to affect the reliability of Sydney’s public transport.

Premier’s response to Sydney train delays

To ease public frustration, Premier Chris Minns declared Monday a fare-free travel day. The decision aimed to compensate affected commuters and show support for those impacted by ongoing issues.

Authorities continue to assess infrastructure vulnerabilities, as repeated disruptions raise concerns over long-term reliability. Transport leaders have promised stronger measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
