Swietelsky Rail Polska contract in Poland has set a new benchmark for the company after it won a PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK) tender under the National Railway Program, as outlined in a Swietelsky AG press release. The project has a total value of approximately EUR 200 million.

The contract covers the design and execution of modernization and extension works on a railway line around 100 km long. Work will focus on the Stalowa Wola – Tarnobrzeg – Sandomierz – Ocice – Padew section, described as one of the region’s most important railway infrastructure projects, as reported by Railway PRO.

Works until the second half of 2027

The construction and modernization works are scheduled to run until the second half of 2027. They include modernization of approximately 100 km of railway and rehabilitation of 90 km of contact line.

The scope also предусматривает reconstruction of 7 bridges and rehabilitation of 78 footbridges. Alongside that, the plan includes modernization of 94 switches and 59 level crossings, modernization of 8 railway stations, and construction of 17 new platforms.

PKP PLK scope and National Railway Program goals

Awarded under the National Railway Program, the investment is described as being of national importance. Its stated aim is to increase the safety and quality of rail traffic while helping reduce travel times.

In this context, Railway Supply has previously noted PKP PLK’s broader tender activity under Poland’s rail modernization agenda, which includes projects on the Stalowa Wola – Tarnobrzeg – Sandomierz – Ocice – Padew corridor.

Regional impact in the “Trójstyk” (Tripoint) area

Beyond the construction scope, the modernization is expected to significantly improve rail connectivity in the area known as “Trójstyk” (Tripoint). The project is positioned as a way to increase the attractiveness of rail transport for both passenger and freight traffic.
