Stadler Withdraws from Multi-Million Contracts in Bulgaria: What Happened?
31.07.2024
Stadler Withdraws from Two Contracts in Bulgaria, this is reported by the railway news portal Railway Supply, citing Seenews.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Transport has announced that Stadler Polska, the Polish division of the Swiss company Stadler, has withdrawn from two significant deals.
CRRC Develops Innovative Bogie for High-Speed Trains
These contracts include the supply of seven Stadler Kiss double-decker trains and a tender won in June 2024 for the delivery of 35 Flirt 160 trains.
Bulgarian Transport Minister Georgi Gvozdikov specified that during the tender for the 35 trains, Stadler made demands that were impossible to meet.
These demands included altering the contract volume beyond legally established limits.
As a result of the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport rejecting the new terms, Stadler decided to cancel the contract.
A representative from Stadler Polska explained that the decision to terminate the contracts was due to short delivery times and high penalties for non-compliance.
These conditions led to the contract for the 35 trains never being signed.
After Stadler Polska’s withdrawal from the contract for 35 trains, another Polish manufacturer, PESA, which came in second in the competition, may become the likely supplier.
However, it is still unknown who will supply the seven Stadler Kiss double-decker trains, as only Stadler Polska had applied for the tender at the beginning of 2024.
