Each of the new trains will have the latest air-conditioning systems, comfortable interiors, and special sections for physically challenged travelers. Stadler aims to utilize new-age materials and technologies to minimize noise and power consumption. Therefore, the area would minimize carbon emissions and popularize the use of mass transit.

German authorities hope the new fleet would enhance punctuality and shorter travel time, particularly off-peak. Stadler also anticipates partial German localization of production to sustain jobs and enhance the national industrial base.

Stadler Strengthens Its Position in Italy with Hydrogen FLIRT H2 Trains

In Italy, the Circumetnea railway operator has commissioned Stadler to build the Ferrovia Circumetnea, ordered two narrow-gauge trains of the type FLIRT H2. They are the first Italian trains powered by green hydrogen, supporting the Italian green and decarbonization policy.

Agreements cover five years of maintenance and 13 optional trains. This strategy will enable the identification of optimized operating costs and increased fleet reliability. Under this new contract, 19 hydrogen trains have now been ordered by the total count of hydrogen trains ordered by Stadler in Italy, sealing the increased interest for zero-emission technologies.

It remains committed to investing in digital maintenance and diagnostics platforms, which enable operators to reduce expenditure and increase the service life of their fleets. Through these technologies, Stadler has emerged as the go-to partner for rail operators throughout Europe, seeking to balance efficiency and sustainability.

BART Therefore, the new German and Italian contracts pay homage to Stadler’s long-term expansion policy to penetrate further into Europe. The firm proves the future of railway transportation can be innovation, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
