Each train holds 250 passengers, including 112 seats, and offers space for ski equipment. The project also extends the network to ski lifts for tourist convenience.

The company will design and build cars at its Bussnang, Sweden plant, delivering by 2028. This boosts the manufacturer’s standing in innovative transport for tough routes.

Stadler’s Success Story in the Market

In 2023, the company signed a deal with Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn for 25 ORION electric trains. The $294 million contract provides trains for slopes up to 181‰, delivered by 2029.

Production of new electric trains starts this year, and they’ll soon hit the tracks. Thus, the firm keeps advancing tech for cogwheel railways.

Back in 2022, Appenzeller Bahnen ordered an automated train from the company for $20 million. The world’s first such car for the Rheineck-Walzenhausen line launches in 2026.

The company’s innovations help operators boost route efficiency, yet demand for these solutions grows. The manufacturer firmly leads in the specialized railway transport segment.

These projects show how Stadler blends cutting-edge tech with practical passenger solutions. Hence, their trains become vital to Switzerland’s mountain transport network.
