On June 25, Stadler unveiled the first double-decker long-distance Railjet train in Vienna, built for Austrian operator ÖBB at its Swiss plant. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The KISS-series trainset includes six cars, accommodates 486 passengers in first and second class, and can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h. The train is equipped with eight toilets.

Stadler Develops Innovative Trains for High-Speed Service

Under a contract signed in February 2022, ÖBB plans to purchase up to 186 double-decker trainsets, with a total value of around €3 billion. The agreement covers both intercity and regional services.

In July 2023, the operator exercised an additional option, ordering 14 Railjet trainsets and 21 Cityjet units. All Railjet trains are scheduled to enter service on the Vienna–Salzburg route by late 2026.
