The new Stadler trams will feature a five-section, fully low-floor design, measuring 32.5 meters in length and accommodating up to 180 passengers, including 50 seated.

Each vehicle will have two driver’s cabs, real-time passenger information systems, and dedicated areas for passengers with reduced mobility.

Five doors on each side will speed up boarding and alighting, while stainless steel bodies ensure durability and resistance to wear.

These vehicles stand out for their energy efficiency and meet modern standards of comfort and accessibility. Emergency communication buttons will be installed inside the cabins.

Production will begin at Stadler’s Valencia factory, with the first deliveries to Thuringia scheduled for the third quarter of 2027.

All deliveries are expected to be completed by the end of the year, and the trams will enter service by July 2028.

Stadler to Modernize Gotha’s Tram Fleet

The new trams will replace aging models that have operated for over 40 years and will significantly increase the share of low-floor vehicles in the fleet.

Currently, routes are served by trams built by Duewag, Tatra, and Schindler Waggon, many of which are outdated both technically and visually.

Stadler to Serve Key Route with Tramlink Vehicles

One of the five routes, 22.7 kilometers long, connects Gotha’s central station with the town of Bad Tabarz and will be a priority for the new fleet.

The total operational network spans around 38 kilometers, and the arrival of the new trams will enhance passenger comfort and service reliability.
