Škoda Unveils Innovative Battery Trains

Škoda presented its first electric train with ABB batteries in December last year in the Czech Republic. This train will operate on the S8 route between Věřovice and Ostrava.

By the end of 2026, Škoda plans to deliver 19 RegioPanter trains designed for partially electrified railway networks. These trains provide both efficiency and reliability for passenger transport.

Why Škoda Chose ABB Pro Batteries?

ABB Pro batteries are equipped with lithium-titanate oxide technology for durability and modularity. Their adjustable voltage range, from 350 to 1050 V, makes them highly versatile.

The batteries are cost-effective, with a lifespan of up to 15 years, and perform well in harsh climates. ABB’s technology boosts train reliability, aligning with Škoda’s focus on sustainability.

Additionally, Škoda’s RegioPanter trains incorporate the European Train Control System (ETCS), enhancing safety and operational performance. This partnership reflects the future of sustainable rail transport with innovative solutions.
