These components enable the system to accurately determine the distance to obstacles. Upon detecting an object, it immediately alerts the driver and activates emergency braking.

This advanced solution significantly enhances safety on tram routes. With its high-precision detection capabilities, the system effectively prevents accidents. Manufacturers believe that implementing this technology marks a crucial step in the evolution of urban electric transport.

Skoda Group Tests Autonomous Tram Operation

In addition to the collision prevention system, the company is developing autonomous tram operation. Currently, trials are underway in Tampere, Finland, using the Smart Artic X34 tram. This technology is designed for depot operations.

The use of autonomous solutions will minimize human error and improve the efficiency of electric transport. Experts suggest that successful testing could lead to further expansion of the system’s functionality and its broader application in public transport networks.
