It is targeted to be delivered by end of 2027. Akdoğan will employ its new locomotives for freight activities between Turkey and central, southeastern, and eastern Europe countries. The German, Austrian, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Slovenian, Croatian, and Serbian routes are considered for operation under this broad network. With its large network, it is aimed to reduce delivery times and enhance the market position of Turkish operators.
Vectron MS and Railsight X Provide High Reliability
Siemens Mobility will also deliver 10-year maintenance through its Railcover network, backed by the Railigent X digital platform. They allow condition-based monitoring and predictive maintenance in real-time and assist even in evading unexpected downtime.
The contract also reserves a clause for expanding maintenance for two additional years as well as delivering five additional locomotives. This shows great faith between partners and faith in future collaboration. The new locomotives also will be designed for conformity with ETCS Level 3 European train control standard and national signaling requirements for increased protection and functional flexibility.
The project is a continuation of Siemens Mobility’s initiative to further sustainable, energy-efficient, and digital end-to-end rail solutions. The corporation targets innovation, reduction of emissions, and upgrading of logistics. With new locomotives, Akdoğan is going to expand its activities and enhance its market position in the region.
