The vehicles are designed to accommodate all passenger groups. Each tram features four spaces for wheelchairs and six racks for bicycles. Four double doors on each side ensure fast boarding and exiting.
Performance is powered by four electric motors rated at 130 kW each. This setup delivers consistent acceleration and traction even when fully loaded.
Production and Tram Supply Contract for Phoenix
The contract with Valley Metro was signed in 2017 and included a framework for up to 78 trams. Initially, 11 units were ordered, followed by an option for 14 more in 2020.
All trams were manufactured in Sacramento in compliance with the Buy America Act. This supports the U.S. economy and meets national quality standards.
Phoenix chose the S700 series to enhance comfort and make public transit more accessible and environmentally friendly. The trams are already serving passengers and expanding urban mobility options.
The project plays a key role in the city’s transport infrastructure. While the contract value remains undisclosed, the scale and impact of the investment justify its strategic importance.
