Up to 80% of the Inspiro trains for the London Underground will be produced at this site, with the rest manufactured at Siemens’ Vienna plant. The €230 million investment will create 1,000 jobs at the factory and 1,700 more across the supply chain. The first trains are expected to enter service next year, further enhancing London’s public transport system.
Siemens Mobility’s Continued Investment in the UK
Siemens Mobility has also announced additional investments totaling €47 million to boost the production of train bogies. These funds will be used to establish a new bogie manufacturing and repair facility, set to open by the end of 2026.
The site will create 300 jobs and enhance the maintenance of both existing and future train models. This will improve train reliability and help reduce maintenance costs.
The new facility reinforces Siemens Mobility’s commitment to the UK’s transport infrastructure and economic development. The Goole plant plays a crucial role in Siemens’ supply chain, focusing on both local and international markets. High-quality production ensures that the Inspiro trains manufactured here will meet the highest standards of comfort and reliability.
Service maintenance is a key part of Siemens Mobility’s strategy. The new bogie repair capabilities will reduce downtime and improve train availability, keeping Siemens Mobility at the forefront of transport technology.
This investment in production and infrastructure will benefit not only London but also other regions, enhancing rail service quality throughout the UK.
