Siemens Mobility has finished the major overhaul of the first two Vectron locomotives for PKP Cargo after eight years of operation, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

From 2015 to 2022, PKP Cargo acquired a total of 25 Vectron MS locomotives from Siemens Mobility. In 2023, Siemens Mobility delivered the last 5 Vectron MS locomotives to PKP Cargo.

Siemens Mobility conducted the periodic P4 overhaul for the first 12 locomotives.

The first two multisystem locomotives have already been returned to PKP Cargo after modifications and have resumed service. The modifications are being carried out by Siemens Mobility’s Polish service division.

The most modern multisystem Vectron locomotives play a key role in solving a wide range of freight tasks across Europe, as well as in the active growth of the intermodal segment.

Vectrons are modern, versatile locomotives in the European market, with a modular design that allows easy adaptation to the operational requirements and driving specifics in different countries.

Their development was primarily guided by efficiency and cost-effectiveness in performing freight tasks in both domestic and international passenger and freight transport in Europe.

Since 2009, Siemens Mobility’s service team has been providing technical maintenance and repair for Siemens locomotives operating on Polish railways.

A team of over 60 people works in three locations – Warsaw, Poznań, and Sosnowiec. They service both Eurosprinter family locomotives and Europe’s most modern locomotives – Vectrons.

Siemens Mobility is also the first manufacturer of railway vehicles in the Polish market to have ECM certification for locomotive technical maintenance.

Siemens Mobility has extended the contract for the full modernization of PKP Cargo’s Vectron locomotives.
