Full Automation by Siemens Mobility Enhances Efficiency

As part of the modernization, Siemens Mobility implemented the Trackguard Cargo MSR32 microprocessor-based control system, which covers all marshalling yard operations.

The solution automates train reception, disassembly, hump pushing, wagon sorting, train formation, and dispatch. This significantly reduced processing times and minimized operational errors.

The digital system improved accuracy in shunting operations and reduced dependency on human intervention, which is critical for high-traffic facilities.

Keifhoek Becomes a Model for Rail Digitization in Europe

The yard’s modernization was delivered in partnership with infrastructure operator ProRail and in close coordination with logistics companies and local authorities.

The new automation level has not only reinforced Keifhoek’s position in the European freight network but also established a model for future smart rail projects in other countries.

Through this project, Siemens Mobility reaffirmed its leading role in advancing high-tech rail logistics and strengthened the Netherlands’ competitiveness in the European market.
