The national carrier has started accepting a new shipment of partially double-decker six-car Desiro HC electric trains, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

All 36 ordered units are expected to be in operation within the year, boasting a combined passenger capacity of 1.3 thousand people.

LTG Link has signed a contract for the design of a depot for new trains

Each train set includes platforms for 18 bicycles.

The contract for the delivery of 60 trains, valued at €900 million, was signed in 2018, with the initial 24 sets delivered between 2020 and 2021.

Additionally, Israel Railways has received four more Alstom Traxx electric locomotives, set to be operational soon as part of a 2015 contract for 63 locomotives, scheduled for completion by year-end 2024.

Notably, the carrier approved a €1.7 billion procurement plan in 2023, encompassing 81 more Desiro HC trains and 96 double-decker Alstom carriages.
