The 59-kilometer route, built by China Railway 24th Bureau Group Corp, supports trains reaching speeds of 160 km/h. It spans three districts, includes seven stations, and intersects four metro lines, enhancing accessibility.

Shanghai Airport Rail Link Boosts Regional Connectivity

Operating from 6 a.m. to 10:39 p.m., the Shanghai airport rail link runs every 15 minutes. It already served 7,000 passengers by 11 a.m. on its first day, reflecting strong initial demand.

Transportation expert Chen Xiaohong emphasized the link’s role in integrating Pudong Airport with the Yangtze Delta region. This development resolves past connectivity challenges, aligning Shanghai with national high-speed rail networks.

Shanghai’s transit network now spans 896 kilometers with 21 lines and 517 stations. The new link strengthens international travel, especially as Pudong handled 30 million passengers this year, driven by visa-free policies.

Passengers, including foreign visitors, benefit from faster transfers and improved access to major transport hubs. Business travelers like Alessandro Conti praise the new line for enhancing Shanghai’s travel infrastructure.

Transportation officials highlight the service’s impact on international accessibility and urban development. Shanghai remains China’s busiest air gateway, accommodating millions of foreign travelers annually.
