The Amtrak Winter Wanderlust Sale offers passengers up to 30% discounts on various fares in the United States, as made clear on Amtrak’s website and press release from November 2025.

This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Amtrak is drawing criticism in Baltimore because the Frederick Douglass Tunnel construction is causing sleepless nights, job losses, and community frustration, while officials argue the long-term rail benefits will outweigh the current disruptions.

Amtrak Winter Wanderlust sale confirmed terms and conditions

Amtrak has rolled out its ‘Winter Wanderlust’ sale to facilitate budget travel during the winter months. The package will be valid until November 13, 2025, and will be applicable to travel between December 2, 2025, and March 15, 2026.

The sale affects Coach class tickets as well as Acela Business Class tickets. These discounted seats are limited and may be booked only from the Amtrak website and the Amtrak mobile application. Passengers are encouraged to book their seats ahead of time since the prices may escalate with the depletion of seats.

Amtrak lists several blackout dates when the sale does not apply:

  • December 19 – 23, 2025
  • December 26 – 30, 2025
  • January 1 – 4, 2026
  • January 16 and 19, 2026
  • February 13 and 16, 2026

These are the holidays during which there is peak travel demand. The travel dates that fall outside these periods are eligible for full discounts.

Amtrak’s Winter Wanderlust Sale has confirmed routes and sample fares

According to Amtrak’s official fare table, the Winter Wanderlust sale covers most long-distance and regional routes. Confirmed examples include:

  • New York ↔ Boston from $59 (Coach) or $88 (Acela)
  • New York ↔ Philadelphia from $36
  • New York ↔ Washington D.C. from $59
  • Chicago ↔ New York from $63
  • New York ↔ Savannah from $99
  • Miami ↔ Tampa from $16
  • Baltimore ↔ New York from $56
  • Dallas ↔ San Antonio from $18
  • Portland ↔ Seattle from $28
  • Chicago ↔ Los Angeles from $121

Each ticket price has been posted on Amtrak.com and confirmed through regional media outlets such as Timeout NY, Secret Chicago, and Secret Miami in the U.S.

Some regional routes such as Adirondack, Capitol Corridor, and Downeaster are excluded from this offer since these trains run on state subsidies.

Amtrak highlights that all discounted fares include standard services such as reclining seats, free Wi-Fi connectivity, electrical outlets, and Café Cars. Long-haul trains include sleeping cars, baggage handling, and meal service to ensure there is uniform comfort on the entire network.

Since Amtrak stations are generally downtown in most cities in the US, passengers get to save time since there are no transfers and queues involved in airports. The company further adopts this campaign as one of its sustainability measures since trains emit lower emissions compared to air and road travel.

In order to be eligible for the offer, travelers must book no later than November 13, 2025. The booked tickets are valid until March 15, 2026.
