Starting June 7, downtown Denver rail reconstruction service changes will affect passengers. These updates impact the Regional Transportation District – Denver network. Currently, the agency is replacing aging tracks that have been in place since 1994. In addition, service on the D, H, and L lines will be suspended temporarily. This pause allows crews necessary access to the rail corridor.

Operational impacts of downtown Denver rail reconstruction service changes

Meanwhile, RTD is launching a temporary T Line along the Southeast Corridor. The agency is also reinstating C Line service to Denver Union Station. At the same time, the R Line will now reach RidgeGate Parkway Station. Separately, riders using the B and G lines should see increased service frequency to accommodate travel demand.

Officials noted these adjustments in a press release shared by Progressive Railroading. Additionally, they confirmed these changes “are designed to support riders during the next phase of RTD’s multiyear downtown Denver rail reconstruction project,” which started in May 2024. Still, this specific overhaul focuses primarily on long-term infrastructure health rather than minor schedule tweaks.

RTD Partnership Program and transit funding

Also, RTD is accepting project proposals for its Partnership Program through April 29. Now in its fourth year, the initiative offers $6 million for the 2027-2029 window. Local governments and organizations in the service area can apply for these funds to improve local transit. For example, they can enhance existing fixed-route transit or fill service gaps with on-demand mobility solutions. Full details and application instructions are hosted on the official RTD project webpage.
