Efforts to Recover Grain Cars Off Track Underway

Authorities launched extensive efforts to recover the grain cars off track and stabilize the area. Heavy machinery and trained personnel are working to complete repairs and secure damaged sections.

The Ministry of Emergency Management reported one railcar floated down the Fraser River, settling two kilometers away. Two other cars remained partially submerged near the site but were deemed stable.

Cleanup operations will continue for several weeks as teams address environmental and structural challenges. Investigations into the cause of the rockslide and long-term safety measures are ongoing.

Officials emphasized their commitment to protecting ecosystems and preventing similar incidents in the future. Enhanced monitoring systems and reinforced infrastructure are among proposed solutions to improve railway safety.
