RENFE will set up a subsidiary in France
13.02.2023
The board of the Spanish national operator RENFE must obtain permission from the Spanish government to establish a French subsidiary in order to take advantage of the ongoing liberalization of this market. Railway Supply writes about this with reference to the Railway Gazette.
Announcing its plan to build a French business on February 2, RENFE said it wants to take on a long-term presence in France as a fundamental element of its strategic international expansion plan.
RENFE has received certificates allowing it to operate on the Barcelona-Lyon and Madrid-Barcelona-Marseille routes, and continues to work on obtaining a safety certificate allowing it to operate throughout France. RENFE notes that SNCF-owned Ouigo already has a safety case covering the Spanish 1435 mm gauge network.
