According to local media, this penalty represents an increase from the previous amount of €116 million to €166 million.

In the dry port of Xi’an, the Kazakh terminal has started operating

Renfe aims to compensate for lost revenues from passenger transport due to delivery delays.

However, Talgo claims it has not yet received an official lawsuit.

Ordered in 2016-2017, 30 Avril platform trains designed for speeds up to 330 km/h were supposed to be delivered in January 2021.

However, deliveries have still not taken place. Talgo attributes the delays to supply chain disruptions. The company’s CEO, Gonzalo Urquijo, stated that the trains are expected to be operational in March-April.

Currently, the trains are undergoing testing in Spain, where they are expected to cover 25,000 km. However, over the past week, 75% of the trips have ended abruptly due to malfunctions in the safety system.

Talgo is facing serious challenges in fulfilling the contract with Renfe, leading not only to penalties but also to a negative impact on its reputation.

At the same time, Renfe is experiencing significant financial losses due to the absence of trains for passenger transport.

The situation requires careful consideration and the search for solutions for both parties.
