The Polish regional operator Koleje Mazowieckie has entered into an agreement with Stadler for the purchase of 50 new FLIRT model trains, totaling 750 million euros, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This initiative is partially financed by the European Union under Poland’s national recovery and resilience plan.

The agreement includes not only the delivery of trains but also an 18-year maintenance service, ensuring reliability and long-term operation of the new vehicles.

The first batch of 25 trains will be delivered within two years, enhancing the operator’s capabilities.

Robert Stępień, CEO of Koleje Mazowieckie, expressed confidence in the successful operation of the new trains, noting the high service quality demonstrated by Stadler’s current fleet.

He emphasized that modernizing the fleet is a crucial step toward improving the transport infrastructure of the Mazovian region.

The trains will be manufactured at Stadler’s local plant in Siedlce, promoting local economic development and job creation.

Each train will feature advanced ETCS Level 2 signaling equipment and accommodate up to 600 passengers, ensuring modernity and comfort.

Philipp Brunner, Executive Vice President of Stadler for Central Europe, highlighted that this order sets new industry standards and brings significant value to the region, promoting its development and enhancing residents’ mobility.

Thus, investments in the modernization of Mazovia’s railway infrastructure are pivotal in establishing a sustainable and modern transportation system, fostering regional economic growth, and improving residents’ quality of life.
