Rail Cargo Hungaria is investing HUF 1.5 billion (EUR 4.3 million) to modernize its freight wagons with silent braking systems, informs railway magazine Railway Supply with a link to the company’s website.

For the indicated own funds, it is planned to modernize the entire fleet of the company, consisting of 6,3 thousand wagons, by the end of 2023. 1,3 thousand of them are already equipped with silent brakes.
These measures, in particular, will make it possible to carry out transportations on the territory of Germany, where national noise requirements have recently been tightened.
The railcar modernization project is supported by the Connecting Europe Facility.
