To improve navigation, the facility includes modern wayfinding signage and hearing aid loops. These improvements aim to deliver a more inclusive transport experience for all passengers.

Queensland’s Exhibition Station Prepares for 2029 Reopening

About 1,700 cubic metres of concrete and 1,100 tonnes of steel were used in the station’s reconstruction. Workers also laid 105,500 pavers, 11,000 tiles, and installed 73,000 heritage-style bricks sourced locally.

The upgraded station reflects Brisbane’s broader investment in transport infrastructure ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Queensland’s Exhibition Station plays a vital role in connecting the Games precinct.

Kat Stapleton, CEO of Queensland Rail, stated the station will benefit people working at nearby venues, including the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. She emphasized the station’s value for daily commutes and special events.

Future Use of Queensland’s Exhibition Station for Events

Authorities plan to open the station occasionally for high-profile events before 2029. These temporary openings will follow publicized schedules to help travelers plan efficiently.

Once fully operational, the station will become a central hub in South East Queensland’s rail network, improving mobility across Brisbane’s inner suburbs.

Its location and accessibility upgrades are designed to handle future crowd volumes while preserving the area’s historical appearance.
