Queensland track closures set for 20 Dec–26 Jan
12.12.2025
Queensland track closures will run from Saturday 20 December to Sunday 26 January, covering Cross River Rail project works and essential maintenance across the network, according to a Translink service update.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Translink said the scale and complexity of the program calls for a longer closure period so crews can work safely and complete as much as possible.
A Cross River Rail spokesperson said the work is needed to upgrade South East Queensland’s rail network as it undergoes a once-in-a-generation transformation to support a growing population, as outlined on the Cross River Rail track closures page.
Passengers will be affected by the closures, with timetable changes on all lines. Translink urged customers to review their options, plan their journey and allow for changes during the 38-day closure period, noting that the best travel option may vary over the course of the works, as reported by Rail Express.
