HOPPECKE and TKIL Industries are launching joint battery production for India’s railway sector, including systems for metro trains, locomotives, and suburban rail services. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Joint Battery Venture Targets Indian Market
German manufacturer HOPPECKE and Indian engineering firm TKIL Industries have formed a strategic partnership. Their focus will be on developing batteries tailored for India’s expanding railway needs.

Production will begin this year. The partners are currently in talks with potential clients and rail operators across India.
TKIL will manage local assembly and equipment servicing. In addition, both companies plan to sign long-term maintenance contracts throughout the region.
HOPPECKE Expands Battery Supply on Global Scale
Based in Brilon, Germany, HOPPECKE produces nickel-cadmium, lead-acid, and lithium batteries. These systems are widely used in the railway and energy sectors.
The company operates in 22 countries, generating more than €600 million in annual revenue. This confirms HOPPECKE’s strong presence in the global battery market.
TKIL Industries, formerly ThyssenKrupp Industries India, specializes in industrial solutions. The partnership with HOPPECKE enhances its competitiveness in the battery technology segment.
This new initiative reflects rising demand for reliable and eco-friendly energy systems in India’s railway infrastructure. The joint project will establish local production and servicing for advanced battery solutions.
The HOPPECKE–TKIL alliance aims to leverage each company’s strengths to deliver competitive and sustainable battery technologies to the Indian market.
