26.09.2024
At InnoTrans 2024, Stadler unveiled the Servicejet, a fire and rescue train with a hybrid drive, designed to ensure safety and conduct emergency rescue operations on railways, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

These 1435 mm gauge trains were ordered by ÖBB-Infrastruktur back in December 2020.

The first of the 18 ordered trains, with a total value of around €230 million, are now ready for operation.
Initially, up to 20 trains were planned, but the enhanced capabilities of the equipment allowed the reduction in the number of units.
The Servicejet comprises three cars with two-axle bogies, with the end bogies of the leading and trailing cars equipped with engines.
The central car is equipped with a 40 m³ water tank and a 1000-liter foam concentrate storage.
In extreme situations, such as passenger evacuations, the train can accommodate up to 331 people thanks to folding seats.
Power is supplied via an overhead contact line with 15 kV and 16.7 Hz, while in emergencies, the train can operate on batteries with a capacity of 140 kWh or diesel generators with 390 kW each.
The train’s hybrid drive allows speeds of up to 160 km/h on overhead power and up to 120 km/h in diesel or hybrid modes.
The train’s maximum wheel power reaches 3000 kW on grid power, 600 kW on batteries, and 1200 kW in hybrid mode.
The continuous power output on the grid is 2000 kW, while in hybrid mode, it is 520 kW.
The Stadler fire and rescue train is not limited to emergencies; it is also effective in the maintenance and repair of railway infrastructure, including tunnels.
It is equipped with water spray systems, foam generators, thermal imagers, lifts, and other specialized equipment.
The train can supply power to faulty rolling stock and, in case of smoke, provide oxygen supply.
The crew consists of 18 firefighters with breathing apparatus and two drivers.
The flexible design allows the train to be outfitted for special tasks, such as fighting forest fires.
