Car deliveries

Chinese authorities have launched car deliveries to Central Asia via a new multimodal route. The first freight train carrying Chinese cars departed from Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The train will pass through the border checkpoints of Khorgos and Altynkol and deliver the cars to Almaty.

The train consists of 261 passenger cars, valued at more than 27 million yuan, which is over 3.8 million USD. This train marks the beginning of a new delivery route connecting China with Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries.

The new multimodal route is expected to be actively used in the future. Preliminary data indicates that over 15,000 cars will be transported from China to the region by the end of the year. Authorities expect this route to significantly increase the volume of car deliveries.

Since the beginning of 2024, 83,781 cars have already been transported through Khorgos and Alashankou. This represents a 2.9% increase compared to the same period last year, with an additional 2,361 cars transported.

Experts note that the growth in car deliveries is linked to the rising demand for Chinese cars in Central Asian countries.
