In December 2023, PKP Intercity SA announced a tender for the delivery of 35 new hybrid electric trains, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The carrier received an offer from a single manufacturer, Newag SA, which submitted a bid for 3,364,819,857.00 zlotys.

Now, the stage of reviewing and evaluating the submitted offer will begin.

PKP Intercity SA has allocated 3,367,324,506.00 zlotys for the project implementation.

The new trains are intended not only to provide greater accessibility for cities not yet covered by the long-distance train network but also to reduce travel time by reducing the need for rolling stock replacement.

Thanks to this order, the carrier will receive fast, environmentally friendly, and modern trains.

They will operate on domestic routes in the InterCity category.
