Polish railway operator PKP Intercity plans to increase the speed of its trains to 250 km/h starting from 2024, according to the railway portal Railway Supply.
This change will specifically apply to Pendolino trains, which will operate on the central railway corridor connecting Warsaw, Krakow, and Katowice, as reported by CTS.
The diesel maneuvering locomotive MDD3 from Express Service
This means that the journey from Warsaw to Krakow will take less than two hours.
PKP Intercity currently has 20 Pendolino trains with this design speed, and they also plan to acquire 32 new trains that will be capable of achieving such high speeds.
These will be the fastest trains between cities in Poland.
