PKP Intercity Announces Tender for Shunting Locomotives

PKP Intercity issued a tender for the purchase of 18 shunting locomotives, which would replace older units and facilitate performance of manoeuvres. The first deliveries will be within 32 months of the signing.

This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The new traction vehicles are to be four-axle, around 20m-long high-speed designs capable of operating at 100 km/h or more, with a high priority placed on meeting Europe’s stringent Stage V environmental requirements.

Authorities will have to apply to take part by September 30, 2025. Meanwhile, they all need to be delivered up to 48 months of the signing of the agreement.
Today, the company has somewhere around 50 diesel locomotives, including shunts, which it regularly updates. Thereby, this tender is only a logical development of the modernization of the PKP Intercity.

Stage V engines, a latest generation design offering lower emissions levels to help protect the environment. Meanwhile, their enhanced power will provide good performance during shunting duties on the network.

The first trains in case of PKP Intercity are to be delivered within 32 months after conclusion of the contract.
How are the locomotives environmentally required?
All rail vehicles have to be fitted with the latest diesel engines certified to the European Stage V emissions standard.
How many locomotives are to be provided to PKP Intercity according to the new contract?
Under the conditions of the tender, PKP Intercity is also buying 18 shunting locomotives, all of which to be supplied to the carrier within 48 months.
