OmniTRAX SIT rail yard marks a Piacente legacy in Savannah
28.05.2026
OmniTRAX SIT rail yard has been dedicated to Dean Piacente, who serves on the OmniTRAX board and previously led the company as chief executive officer. The naming ties Piacente’s role to a Savannah freight asset serving the Savannah Gateway Industrial Hub.

SIT Rail Yard Supports Savannah Freight Links
The 7-mile Savannah Industrial Transportation route, formally certified in 2025, serves the SGIH site. As described in OmniTRAX’s Savannah Gateway Industrial Hub profile, the hub is centered on rail access, port proximity and logistics use. Through interchanges with CSX and Norfolk Southern Railway, the route gives shippers a connection to the Port of Savannah and the broader North American freight-rail network.
At the dedication ceremony, OmniTRAX CEO Colby Tanner said the railroad would not have been possible without Piacente’s consistent commitment. OmniTRAX also stated in its official announcement on the rail yard dedication that the Piacente Rail Yard supports the movement of more than 5,000 cars annually, with traffic expected to double within the next year.
