Last summer, Siemens and Germany’s largest carrier signed a contract worth over 2 billion euros for the supply of 90 electric trains. The first units are expected to enter service at the end of 2028.
These innovative trains will consist of 13 cars and can accommodate up to 1,841 passengers, with seating for 400 passengers and 80 more on folding seats.

The electric trains will feature silicon carbide (SiC)-based traction converters and oil-free transformers, significantly reducing maintenance costs.
The maximum power will be 7.8 MW, and the speed will reach up to 160 km/h.
These innovations in traction equipment and intelligent software will improve the efficiency and reliability of train operations.

Siemens Mobility focuses on sustainable development and the implementation of advanced technologies to meet the demands of modern urban transport.

The new electric trains will be part of Munich’s strategy to modernize and enhance its transport infrastructure, offering more comfortable and faster travel for residents and visitors.
