In a press release, NCDOT officials said the statewide plan will establish goals and strategies for streamlining freight movement across North Carolina. It covers goods transported by air, rail, highways and pipelines, as well as through ports and waterways.

Public meetings on the draft plan

Three public meetings are scheduled: a virtual-only Waynesville session on July 14, followed by meetings in Greensboro on July 15 and Wilmington on July 16. The Wilmington meeting will also offer virtual participation.

Public comment and publication timeline

The plan is expected to be released in the fall for a public comment period. The final version is expected to be published in early 2027.
