The project will use two rail bridges over Armstrongs Road and Station Street, according to Victoria’s Big Build. This will separate trains from vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. The works are intended to improve safety and ease congestion in the area.

Residents are being invited to comment on the proposed Seaford Station designs. The new station is set to open in 2028. This feedback stage comes before construction is scheduled to start next year.

Elevated Seaford Station design

The plans show an elevated, accessible station. Each end will have an entrance, stairs and a lift.

Also, the design includes better lighting and clearer sightlines to support safety. Connections will be improved through the station car parks and towards Station Street, Seaford RSL and the Scout Hall.

New landscaped open spaces will be created beneath the elevated station and rail bridges. In addition, walking and cycling links will connect with the Kananook Creek Trail.

Community feedback has influenced the design approach. The station and rail bridge forms are inspired by the local coastline and sand dunes. At the same time, the colours draw on the Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands, Seaford Beach and local flora.

Level crossing removals in Seaford

More than 5000 vehicles pass through the two Seaford level crossings each day. During the morning peak, boom gates are down for more than 30 minutes. Since 2016, seven near misses have been recorded at the Station Street level crossing.

The community can view the early designs through Engage Victoria. It can also provide feedback and register for information sessions until 11.59pm on Sunday June 7.
