New FLIRT Trains from Stadler for Swiss Operator SZU

Swiss operator SZU has placed an order for 17 new FLIRT trains from Stadler to update its fleet, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The new trains will replace the older double-decker Re 450 models, which are currently in use on the Sihltalbahn S4 line between Zurich and Sihlwald. This contract, worth 160 million Swiss francs, also allows SZU to purchase 10 more trains if necessary.

The new FLIRT trains from Stadler can carry up to 405 passengers, with 140 of them seated. These trains will have three cars, offering increased comfort and more space for both seated and standing passengers.
